Detailed Description

A plastic cover with a connection area is specified. Particularly relevant in this example are drafted areas, i.e. conical areas, which must be specified.
The need for the conical geometry arises from demoulding draft angles, which are already structurally included in the 3D model. ISO GPS conform descriptions of tapered areas can be a challenge.
A typical geometry used for self-tapping screws will be described.
The question of whether a datum system always needs to be “functionally defined” is examined in this example.
Another focus is the use of a local datum system that is applied to specify the connection geometry.

Secondary relevant in this example are restrain conditions (free state) as well as general tolerances.
